Hi all. I watched World's Greatest Dad last night and really liked it. I am looking for recommendations for similar "dark comedy" flicks. I love all of Todd Solondz' films, especially Happiness. Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance.

I'll go with "God Bless America" from same director as "World's Greatest Dad" Bobcat Goldtwaith and "Super" by James Gunn.

Films that remind me of Happiness in terms of tone are:

    Mysterious Skin
    Four Lions
    Boogie Nights
    I Love you Philip Morris

Also Gummo, one of my all time favourites, has a similar tone.

Storytelling and Welcome to the Dollhouse, also by Todd Solondz.

I particularly liked Storytelling have to say. Welcome to the Dollhouse is an unflinching look at teenage years.

You've probably already scene it, but Noah Baumbach's The Squid and the Whale. The first time I saw it I thought it was a cross between Wes Anderson and Todd Solondz, not least in one pubescent male character's proclivity to masturbate, with visibly messy results, which echoed a similar subplot in Happiness.
