My girlfriend and I are going to New York in early December for a few days. I am just wondering for people who have gone that time of year, how much money is enough and how much is too little??
It's a five day trip and don't wanna be counting coins but also don't wanna be spending for the sake of spending.

    Thanks

That's a total how-long-is-a-piece-of-string question. I live in New York, it's possible to drink, eat and socialize quite cheaply here. It's also possible to spend a fortune, especially if you hang around tourist areas like Times Square where you will be ripped off relentlessly and receive generally crappy services in return. If you get to know a little about the city and eat at the kind of places where locals go downtown (which will be more interesting and better than the tourist joints) then it's possible to have a great time on about $100 per day per person after accommodation.
