    Hi, I am long term unemployed 12+ months, I have interview with a fast food chain for full time position, I have 2 kids who I claim for as-well as adult dependant.

    I receive Jobseekers payment for all of us as-well as rent allowance and medical cards etc..

    I wanted to know ;

    1) How does the Family Income Supplement work? How do I know how much is paid extra on top of my salary (if I get the job)?

    2) Do I still receive rent allowance?

    3) Is it better to apply for Back to Work allowance?

    I am confused as to what my options are as I don't want to lose out on payments I amy be entitled to apply for

    Thanks in advance

    S

    1. Check the income limit for you family size. Minus your future weekly earnings from that and multiply the balance by 60℅

    2. Very unlikely.

    3.back to work is for self employed only.

    1. you need to work min 19 hrs a week for fis, its calculated on your total income, they give you 60 precent of the balance of what you should be getting,
    2. yes depending on your income you might still qualify for rent allowance but you wont get the full rate off fis if you do still get rent allowance,
    3. i think back to work allowance was done away with many years ago for normal people returning to work as previous poster has said its just for self employed people, .

    wont get rent allowance if you work over 30 per week
    I know as when work hours cut those on a 4day week used to make sure to finish 2 hours early or if not possible were able take longer unpaid breaks.
    Rota we liked was 3 10 hour days we needed watch carefully

    Its all changed now.
    If you were on rent allowance for 18 months before you took up full time employment your entitled to keep you rent allowance if your on low income even... if you work 40hrs a week. You have to get a letter from council to state that your ras compliant. To be ras compliant you have to be min 18 months on rent allowance.
