Learning To Fly!

    Hi Guys,

    I'm finally in a position where I can afford my journey to becoming a pilot! Having looked into it a fair bit, the nearest aerodrome to me seems to be abbeyshrule, but it seems to only cater to microlights. I don't mind the idea of flying microlights, but would like to be able to eventually fly larger aircraft now and then to bring friends and family for a cruise around etc.

    So the question is, if I work to get my PPL(M), am I able to simply do a conversion and get a PPL(A) licence? Or will getting a PPL(A) require me to start as if I had no flying experience at all? I did find an IAA document stating that it was possible to convert from PPL(A) to a PPL(M) with 15 hours, is there something similar to convert the other direction?

    Any help would be great!

    Hi,

    I currently coming to the end of my PPL(A) in Abbeyshrule with Aeroclub 2000. We fly a C172N EI-COT. Good instructors, good field to fly from. We're surrounded by class G airspace so little chance of getting in peoples way. There's a fly in on the 30/31 of August if you want to come down and talk to students and instructors. Over all it's a very good place to learn.
