goat butcher

    does anyone know of a good butcher for goat. One who understands the best cuts and doesnt treat it like lamb

    had them away back in the day, tasted them in recent times, unless you have a gra for the taste of it forget it, folks of a different culture used to coe to our place for them, only youngs males were they interested in, they used to buy butcher and take them within a few hours, when i got older i demanded that they take all of the animal, they never caame bacck.

    i assume aany butcher who kills their owwn animals would be able to do so.

    Thats only the buck goats. ive eaten it a few times and if you get a young female they taste great. looks like lamb only leaner. When i was living in Aus we would head out shooting every so often for boars and wild goats. brought them back and a neighbour had a huge motorised spit. he would stick it on first thing in the morning and that evening we would have a serious feed.

    some got hung but we were living in the city and finding someone with a suitable spot wasnt that easy.

    As Miname said older buck goats will have a taint off the meat the same was as you can get boar taint from older sexually active boars.
    I have eaten goat although not for several years. It used to be regularly eaten in Ireland before we became all snobby and modern. My Grandparents would have killed male kids for their own consumption.
    It is similar to lamb but not as meaty and less fat unless you are using a meat producing buck like Boers.
