I was notified 2 years ago I was a beneficiary of an unknown amount from a deceased aunt , I was asked to send my PPS back to the solicitor and have heard nothing until last week.
I got a letter from Revenue stating I am due to receive an inheritance , And I was required to file a return via the enclosed CAT IT38S form.

I read online that a return is only required if the amount is in excess on 80% of the applicable threshold , ie €30,150 x.8 = €24,120

Is the letter an inidication of whats coming or is it just routine,

Phoned revenue and they notified me of the amount the solicitor put in the affidavit , I know this is only an estimate ,
I then phoned the solicitor who would not give any figure but said they would in touch in the coming weeks.

Why won't the solicitor inform you of the amount?

You're probably getting a % of the residue in which case the solicitor won't know the exact amount until her fees are calculated which is probably the last thing that will be done. You don't need to submit the return to the Revenue until you get the money so you need to chill for the moment and just wait for the cheque to arrive.

    Talk to the solicitor.
