Different swings on Hybrids

I was just hoping to get different Golfers views on hitting hybrid clubs .

My story , iv only really learned and understand how to hit solid irons strikes by keeping lag angle and having hands ahead of ball at impact . I'm hitting irons longer and more consistent so all's fine in that department .

I carry a 3 and 5 hybrids and iv always found my 5 a real go to club as it's so easy to hit . But lately I'm struggling with them , last night was very bad .

Now I understand I was obviously hitting these clubs on the downswing or at a steep angle and this is happening because iv been practicing this alot for my irons shots .

Iv been on utube this morning to try gage which is the correct way to hit these clubs but I'm finding most of these are contradictin themselves . Now I understand you might say go back to the way you used to hit the hybrids but trying to ingrain one swing for irons and another for hybrids might be tough .

So my question to you guys is what way do you play hybrids ? Play like irons or woods ? Sweep or compress ? Ball position ?

    Cheers for any advice

I play all my clubs the same way, only the driver is different as I hit up.

What was going wrong with the hybrids? hitting down isn't a problem unless you aren't playing them from the same positron as a long iron?

I found I was hitting them quite fat . Especially on my 3h . Also taking massive divots

I thinking ball position was all wrong or should I be sweeping these clubs ?

Maybe try to imagine the hybrid is a 6 iron ?
I think going down the road of thinking you have a different swings for different clubs is a bad one.
Sure, you dont take a 10" long rasher of divot likeyou might with a PW. But that is more to do with the length, lie, and shape of the club head than any consciously different manipulation of it by the swinger.

I've started to play my hybrid a little further back in my stance as a result of a lot of links golf.
So it's just a fraction ahead of centre and that gives me a pretty low ball flight.
Very useful for links and it'll run a mile in the summer on parkland too.

Half way between centre and left foot if I'm trying to get it up in the air.

The driver is the only club I hit up on.
But I'm certainly not trying to get a "feel" of hitting down on the hyrid. I'm trying to brush it along (it'll still be a downward strike though).

Hybrids are all about the feel for me. Try to hit them as gently and smoothly as possible, they're designed to go a mile so let it do the work.

You might have the ball too far back, this causes you to have to go back to try to get the ball, this can lead to hitting it heavy, having the ball forward means you move into it and less likely to hit it fat.

As above, the length of club and the resulting distance from the ball is what causes a steeper or more shallow swing, the player didn't and shouldn't try to do anything any differently.
