    Hi...
I currently have two impacted bottom wisdom teeth. One is causing me a lot of trouble and I need it out pretty soon and the dentist recommends I get the other out too.
I called <snip> and there consultation was 80 pound and X-ray between 80-100 pound before the extraction! People have said it's between 200-280 sterling (on other forums but conversations are 4years old).
While most dental places are charging 500-600 down south, <SNIP>web page states it's 140 to 200euro per surgical removal! This would obviously be cheaper than going up North and more convenient!
Can anyone tell me if they have had their wisdoms removed here, was this the actual price of would I be better going up north?
Any other cheap alternatives will be gladly received.
    Thank you

You want an oral surgeon to do that job, not a regular dentist. At the end of the day its your nerves that could be permanently damaged, but I would recommend to my family and friends that for impacted wisdom teeth an oral surgeon is the way to go.

Two wisdoms is going to cost you around €600-800 in the south and the same in the north once you fact in sterling conversions, travel, etc. Also are you going to hop on a train, into your car etc and travel home after 2 surgical wisdoms are removed???if not factor in a hotel stay.

I would think the dentists in <SNIP> must be dental surgeons? Surely they wouldn't offer it if they weren't properly qualified?
I live on the boarder and would be having the procedure under local due to cost factors so driving wouldn't be an issue.

All dentists are dental surgeons.... but is it an oral surgeon was the question? There is a difference....
Also check if the 140-200 surgical extraction is for other teeth and not impacted lower wisdom teeth.
An impacted lower wisdom tooth removal with an oral surgeon is about €300+ wherever you go...

As fitzgeme says, go to someone who does them every day and not just the cheapest guy, the extra money is worth it...

    Good luck,
    Os

Ok perfect thanks... So there is no real difference in having them done down here or up north so?
    Thanks again
