hi I'm currently on sat broadband with Digiweb, found out eircom e fibre is now available in my area, was going to sign up to the online unlimited 100 mb deal for 48 a month (half price 1st 6 months) Rang up Digiweb today to cancel and they said they could offer 70mb efibre with a 350 gig cap for 39.99 a month and 49 installation.
Anyone know if this would be any use? If I leave Digiweb I would have to pay a 120E cancellation fee. We don't download a lot of movies/music currently but that old be mainly due to the fact that our current internet is rubbish with a low cap and regularly slows to a crawl. When I get e fibre I could see myself downloading more tv/watching sport on sky go/ would a 350 gig cap seriously impact this.
Any help appreciated as I'm all at sea when it come to a lot of these figures.
I have found Digiweb not great to deal with in the past, wondering how they didn't bother to inform us efibre was available also

You only have to pay a cancellation fee if you're in a contract. When is your contract up? I would wait until then before switching to eFibre.

Unfortunately we are tied into a contract till February 15. Can't wait for that to expire as current internet is rubbish ( if we take up Digiweb on their e fibre offer we enter a new contract)

I was with digiweb metro and they left me cancel within my contract to move to digiweb DSL.

Don't think they have a problem with you moving services once you stay with them.

I realise that, the question is is their e fibre offering any good or is it worth stumping up the cancellation fee and going with eircom, Digiweb are only selling me on eircom efibre so would I not be better going straight to the source?

The product will be very similar. Differences are phone centres, international transit and eircom do IPTV. Id just go with digiweb for now.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking now, to avoid the 120 cancellation fee.
Mind you they are looking for a e50 installation fee , any chance of haggling them down on this?

Eircom offer unlimited broadband... You have no clue whether you'd use 350gb or not.. If you're downloading movies a lot you probably would.. Just something to think about.. With regards to the cancellation fee just refuse to pay it.. They'll do nothing about it.. I did it with Vodafone, contract cancelled never heard a word about it

Only with a 12 month contract. Not for an 18 month contract.

GF rang digiweb tonight to try and get them to budge on the intallation fee, said we woul wait them out on the contract and then skip to vodafone for 35E a month unlimited. (they wont talk to me as bill is in her name)

Digiweb said they wouldnt budge on pricde and that vodafone were on an inferior cable, and something about fair usage and contention meaning that vodafone would not be as good as their offering and on truly unlimited.

I assume this is BS as Vodafone would be using the same eircom line as digiweb??

pretty close to just going ah **** it and staying with digiweb. 18 month contract though

Exact same cabinet and copper cable to the house. Sales team bull**** of the highest order.

Only difference is when your data reaches their edge routers, this is where packets split between providers. Vodafone happen to own a large portion of irish transit into europe so theyll either be on par or better than magnet.
