    hi,
    I've a 1.9 d 2004 Renault grand espace (7 seater).
Long story short, engine is fecked (turbo failure causing runaway engine)
The kicker is that in the previous few weeks I put in a load of money (€2.5k) to the car (new break disks & pads, new front suspension, timing belt/water pump. new tires etc)
Any ideas if there is any market to sell this? Who/if anyone would be interested etc).
    Based in Galway

Bad luck that having engine failure after splashing out so much.... But the car will suit somebody (a mechanic with an expanding family who knows where there is a replacement engine handy)

I would advertise it accurately and make sure to mention all the new parts..... Oh shoot, just realised timing belt expense really is a dead loss... Anyway.. Make sure to mention the other new parts and be prepared to wait a bit and get lots of silly offers. Advertise on donedeal and other places to get max coverage. It may take a whilst to shift it. Good luck with sale and next car.

Won't be worth very much with a fecked engine I'm afraid.

best way out of this imo is to throw more money at it and keep it. what are you talking to fit a replacement engine? less than €1k? you'd probably only get 4-500 tops for scrapping it. could you buy a more suitable replacement car for €1500? doubt it.

A turbo leaking oil may cause a runaway engine - but that does not mean the engine itself is gone.

Not cheap either way but a big difference in overall cost.

How is the gearbox in the Espace? I know from personal exprience they have the infamous 'PK6' gearbox which are notorious for causing trouble. If the gearbox hasn't been recondtioned yet, consider getting the gearbox reconditioned while getting the engine replaced. It shouldn't cost more than a few hundred Euro - and once that's done you'll get many more years from the Espace as they are a nice comfortable MPV.

It's a 10 year old Renault. You'll get nothing for it aside from headaches and tyre kickers. As a poster above said, fix it and keep it and you might nit feel lime you've been shafted by the man upstairs.
