Door bell

I have a door bell wired to the mains which has just stopped working. Looked at the trip switches, half expecting to see something tripped but there was nothing. There is a "doorbell transformer" beside the trip switches. Could this be the problem and if so how can I tell ? House was rewired two years ago.

Would it also have a trip switch? There's one switch labelled "heat, smoke, bell".

Bell push at the door is most likely culprit
Unscrew it from frame and tip the wires together to see if that works

It should be safe to do this as the voltage is low. However caution is advised

Thanks. Will try that. Was wondering if the heavy rain recently may have caused a problem with it.
