    What os are you running,
    windows , linux,?
read the setup usb modem, manual, faq.
Many tablets have a usb port ,but it doesnt detect devices .
Like a pc or laptop does.
OR it is just designed to connect to a pc.
    Maybe look in settings,developer,
    enable usb .

Just tether it to your phone.

As far as I know its android 4.2.2, as for tethering, that would cost me a bomb, its a djc touchtab, it can see the o2 network n all that but getting the o2 auto run software off the usb stick is the issue

Unless Theres a setup app,for android,
you cant use the usb modem.
    I had a usb modem,it had a setup program,
designed for windows, pcs, laptops.or mac pcs.
    http://www.o2online.ie/shop/view/product/ql_catalog/catdevice/86273201?broadbandType=payg

Works on both Windows and Mac
    Plugs straight into your laptop
Use it at home or on the go
i see no mention of android tablets here.
Maybe they have an o2 android app?

No theres no set up app, the software is auto run, there isnt even an option to download it off the usb, I ll probably end up using a pebble modem

    02 have a wifi unit,
it, sends the web, thru wifi ,to any pc or tablet, or device that recieves wifi .
Bring the modem back for a refund, with the box, manual, receipt if you have it.
Whether the wifi unit is worth buying is up to you.
A phone from 3 gives free web acess when you buy 20 euro credit.
A good samsung phone from 3 is around 70 euro.
SOME phones have wifi tethering built in.
Even if this works ,it,ll use the battery up in maybe 5 hours or less .
IT takes me 2hours 40 mins to charge my 3 phone.
Look for wifi tethering in the phone menu.
SETUP software is for mac ,windows, no point in copying it from the usb,if you could.

Anybody know whats the difference between rooted and not rooted

Rooted gives you access to normally protected areas of the system.

rooted ,means you can install a different os on a phone ,tablet ,
    eg cyramod os,

or else a rooted device allows you to , install third party apps, on the device that would not normally be
allowed by the os you are running now.
This gets rid of all the preinstalled apps,
if you install a new os.
its really for an expert users.

NOT a good idea if you want to use the 3 ,
    30 days prepay offer ,
as the 3g acess may not work properly on a rooted phone .

There,s a risk of bricking, breaking the device if you dont follow the instructions properly.
IF you are going to buy a 3 phone make sure there is 3g coverage where you live,
otherwise you wont be able to use it at home for web acess .
YOU get 30 days free web acess on 3 if you buy 20 euro,s credit on a prepay phone.

    http://www.three.ie/online/shop/DeviceListing.aspx?tf=prepay&p=voice&gclid=CPamq9eBmsACFcKD2wodQE4AaA

    CHECK with 3,
i think prepay ,30 days web acess is only avaidable,
on phones you buy in the 3 store,

if you buy a pebble ,you may have to pay the cost of 3g, by the minute ,hourly rate,
    very expensive,
unless you can sign up with 3, or 02 to a data monthly 3g package to use on thesim card you put into the pebble modem.
There,s fibre broadband in many area,s now,
eg you can get broadband without installing a phone ,landline,
    even in rural areas.

I know someone who bought a 500 euro, 3g tablet, and never used it on 3g AT all as the 3g data costs were too high ,
    for casual web use,
and he has 20meg broadband installed in his home.
he uses it on wifi at home.

YOU cant just take the 3g sim from your 3 network, phone, and put in a tablet, or a modem,
and expect to get free 3g acess on it.

We had 3 here before on a laptop, had to stick it out windows to get it to work, never again, thats why broadband is with 02

O2 Have a 3g device similar to the pebble,
    provides wifi to pcs,tablets, laptops,
I dont know how much they charge for it,
    for a monthly data package,
    probably around 20 euro.
i don,t like anything that needs to be charged, works off batterys,
if you are relying on that for 24 hour web acess.
