Sunningdale?

I have been invited to play in a corporate event at Sunningdale in mid-October. The problem is that it's 3 hours away from home so I either get up at 4am and hit the road early, or drive down the night before and stay in a cheap hotel.

Has anyone here played it and if so, is it worth the trip?

Played it about 30 years ago. The old course, where they used to play the European Open, is a superb course. The new course, not so much. That said, it wasn't that "new" when I played it!

Thanks - it's the old course the outing is on. I just noticed that it's ranked as the 2nd best course in England and 9th in the UK & Ireland so I reckon it's probably worth the journey!

Certainly is. They also had a proper "halfway house" which was a compulsory, and very welcome, stop

+1 on the Old Course. I used to play it a fair few times back in the 90's.

A friend of mine, who sadly passed away, was born in one of the course cottages as his dad was head green keeper there back in the day. My friend was the 1954 British Amateur Champion. I used to play regularly there with him & some other great courses in Surrey.

    Definitely worth the trip. Enjoy.
