Hi, it's a great place to stay, very convenient and reasonably priced and the staff are very helpful.

Are you looking for accommodation for college? - It's not somewhere you'd stay full time as it'd work out quite expensive, but if you were a part time student and needed somewhere for 2-3 nights a week it'd be perfect.

I am considering different options. I only need to be in college for maximum 3 nights so I was looking for both college rooms and also the standard rooms. Just wondering if the standard rooms have a desk tough

I am not a part-time student but looking at the timetable for previous years there is always a day or to off in a week.

Just remember that some of the options they have available now will be used as student accommodation come September so they wont be available .... I stayed in the regular ensuite rooms once or twice last year... theyre handy enough on South Campus so near the library, if youre planning on heading out there's a curfew tho!... Theres a shower, tv, tea making facilities (basically everything youd get in a hotel!)...

Also theres a student discount with them which is handy :)

Ive never stayed in the dorm rooms in St. Pats tho so cant help you there! ... They are very cheap but supposed to be very basic with a communal bathroom...

Money wise I found the regular ensuite to be expensive if you consider for the same price (50€) you will get a room only rate in the hotel out in Liffey Valley...
Really easy to get to if you have a car or if you get the 66 bus it brings you right there!

Do you think that it may be difficult to get the regular ensuite when the college starts ? or is there a problem with the college rooms only ? As for the curfew I tought it is only that you can't have a guest in a room after 10 or 11 pm but once you have the hotel card you can get back as late as you want to

    Hi Angela,

A lot of people book rooms in advance, so if you want an ensuite you should probably ring and see what their booking look like. There is a curfew of, I think, 1 o'clock at the latest and it strictly enforced by the security guards. They tell you when you book what it is. The guards might let you in later, they're lovely guys, but I wouldn't depend on it, especially if you want to stay for most of the term.

The place is run as a business and they have regular clients from students, master students, visiting priests, and intel contractors. Last year they were full nearly every night; there's a major shortage of accommodation in Maynooth. They don't want people who will cause any them trouble with the Monsignor, hence the curfew, as they're only allowed run the accommodation at his discretion and he lives in the building.

There's a bed, a little desk and a sink in your room, which is handy. No side table in my room which was award for nighttime bed reading or putting stuff etc. For non ensuites, it's much cheaper and what a lot of students go for. Just don't forget your key if going to the bathroom late at night! There was a student discount if you stay so many nights in a row last year, so it's probably the same. Also don't listen to the security if they say the place is haunted, it's not... Well maybe not :P

Points to living there ( just my opinion )
There's no fridge or microwave/cooker. It's really hard to find food to eat cheaply and no place to store milk etc. I know there's college restaurants but they close at 4ish and them and the places in town are expensive if eating daily. My advice is make friends with someone living in campus and use their oven.

There's a little kitchenette on every floor; just cabinets, a kettle, and a small amount of plates/cutlery, again no oven or fridge. Don't leave anything there over night as the cleaners are told to throw it out, for health etc reasons.

You might only be there for two/three nights a week, which means packing up all of your stuff, taking it home, and bringing it back the next week, and unpacking in an endless loop. That's a lot of effort for me, I'm majorly lazy. You're also not guarantied the same room if that's an issue.

The walls can be pretty thin, I heard everything from the surrounding rooms, and it can be freezing at night. If too cold, you can call the night porter and he might be able to get a spare electrical heater or blanket. The heating is on a timer and you can't change it.

You can't have anyone sleepover as they're not covered by insurance and are a fire hazard etc. And the curfew means no real late nights out. I did sometimes climb over the library gate, not fun when it's wet or cold or your slightly inebriated. The downside is the security guards have cameras and will stop you if they see you.

The library is outside the gate into south campus and that closes pretty earlier maybe 9 or 10, so any late night study means either climbing the gate ( again safety hazard / awkward with a heavy bag) or walking around to the front gate. It's only maximum a 10 minute walk, but it seems ages when you're exhausted and just want to collapse into bed.

The staff are amazing friendly and there is a night porter if you have any issues when the accommodation office is closed. Sorry this got long, I tend to waffle. Hope it was some help :)

Hi, thanks for that I am not a first year student so I have no problem with eating and stuff like that :) it may be an appropriate question but is there any chance to smoke in the rooms or somwhere in the building or do you have to dress up and go outside everytime you want to smoke ?
