Strange Reg - Where is the car from?

    There is a VW Fox parked in our Apartment complex & my DH & were trying to figure out where it was from. The reg. starts with 185 D & then has three digits. It is black on yellow style plate similar to the UK. DH who is from UK swears it can't be from there. Weirdly the car also has a dealer sticker from a well known VW dealer in south Dublin. The car has no tax or insurance displayed. Any ideas?
