2013 Nexus 7 - PIN forgotten - Can't unlock - Help?

    Hi all,

    My 13 year old son has a Nexus 7 which he has forgotten the PIN code to :mad: His pals were getting into it and messing with the settings (changing the language to Japanese etc) so he changed the PIN last night and now can't remember it. He's tried over 150 combinations without success.

    I had set his device up on Device Manager but he had turned off WiFi etc to save battery so the device is not connected to the net.

    I expected there to be an option to enter your Google account password when the PIN number failed a number of times but it seems that option is only offered if you forget a pattern, not if you forget a PIN.

    I tried entering a number of PIN combinations and after 5 failed attempts it says "you have incorrectly entered a PIN XX times, try again in 30 seconds".

    I know I can factory reset the device and he'll lose all his apps and data which might be a good lesson for him but I'd prefer if I could just get it unlocked.

    Any Android/Nexus 7 experts here with a solution????

    Bit the bullet and factory reset the device. A good lesson for him to learn.
