Changing from Sky to UPC?

I'm fed up with Sky and the poor over priced quality they offer. I'm going to switch over to UPC as they've some really good offers on at the moment and even when these offers expire my package is still going to work out cheaper than Sky.

What I want to know is, do I really have to give Sky 31 days notice of cancelling my subscription? 31 days will bring me up past my next bill date and I don't want to have to pay them anymore money and then have change service providers and pay them another bill.

Has anybody any advice on the best, most efficent way of cancelling one subscription with Sky and taking up a new subscription with UPC?

    Thanks in advance.

Sky will only bill you per day so it doesnt really matter when you cancel. Whenever you ring and cancel they will work out your final bill which will be 31 days usage from the day of the call.

sky is the best for tv

I just have the original bundle in SD alongside the setanta pack for 43euros per month
UPC TV does not have sky atlantic, sky's on demand is better than UPC's version and no interactive red button
I have sky tv in my main tv room, but have freesat/saorview in 2 other rooms

    do you have sky multiroom
if yes turn it maybe into freesat/saorview

I have Sky and a UPC bundle. Don't use UPC for tv as the hardware/software is a nightmare. Very laggy response and just not as user friendly as Sky. Only paying 25 for Sky and 35 for UPC triple bundle.

So you just have the basic sky package and the Setanta pack? No Sky Sports or anything else like that?

I don't watch Sky Atlantic and I'm not a big user of Sky's on demand or interactive service.

I have one extra box. Can I get Sky Sports and my other channels by using freesat / saorview?

Sky Sports? no, you must take at least the Original Bundle to take Sky Sports also. But if you are subscribing to UPC just get Sky Sports from them (no red button or Sky Sports F1 though)
