Would you ever compliment someone at the gym?

I was at the gym a few days ago, using one of the mountain machines that I'm assigned. There's only two of these machines in the whole gym and usually when I'm there, there's another lady often using the other one.

I did my routine and got off and was about to head to the water fountain, then the lady takes still on the other machine takes out her earphones and nods to grab my attention, she says 'hey'.

Politely I just look-up in acknowledgement. I thought she was going to ask a favour, like maybe she dropped someone and was going to ask me pick it for her.

Then she was. "I've noticed you around. You look like you've lost a lot of weight. You should be really proud of yourself".

I didn't really know how to react and just said "Ehh....thanks" and then just went about my business.

Did you ever have any weird experience like this?

I have often complimented people in the gym,but not strangers.
I dont see any harm in it,its a great moral boost.
At the end of the day we are all there trying to better ouselves one way or another.

I call lots of people in my gym "big cvnts".
They seem to think I'm complimenting them...

It's not weird - accept the compliment and feel good about yourself.

I've found you get lots of people mirin' when you do Weighted Pull Ups in a commercial gym. Most people there would struggle to get more than a few reps with bodyweight and generally females can't manage a single one.

If I didn't think people were looking at me sure what would be the point in going to the gym :p

Seriously though its a feel good thing when anyone compliments you on weight loss etc. I'd never do it myself but appreciate when someone takes the time to notice and pass comment on my efforts. :)

There's a girl who seems to train at the same time as me in the mornings now. SHe was at the pull ups this morning. I WAS mirin'. And jealous. Especially of her bench too
PU is a popular exercise with the morning people in my gym

I'm a pure show off with chin ups, I'd see a few lads struggling with them and then i'd go on afterwards and do sets using different grips. No women there to impress though :pac:

I made this mistake once. Got chatting to this fella and he mentioned that he had a son in his twenties and innocently I said "god you dont look old enough" and to be fair he didnt. His chest visibly swelled and I suddenly felt a bit vunerable.....it didnt help that we were in the sauna at the time! :O
Sitting there in my bikini it must have felt like a chat up line so I made a swift exit! :)
