    Hi

You asked about other wireless ISP's. Where I live I have the Metro service from Digiweb, which offers up to 30Mb down/1Mb up broadband and anytime phone service for €49.95pm (€29.95pm for first 3 months for new customers). To date I have had no serious issues and speeds are fairly constant 27/29mb down. .98mb up. If available to you it might be worth a look. You can check your area using the following link http://www.digiweb.ie/home/bundles

Getting Nova networks 20MB package installed in the next hour so I'll let ya know in a few days. Particularly looking forward to testing it for streaming HD from Sky OnDemand, NFL Gamepass, Netflix.

With Nova now for over 3 years they have provided a rock solid service, but IMO in the last few months they have dropped the ball a bit. Inconsistent download speed and random high pings mostly at peek times. Sill a lot better than what eircom can provide in my area :)

How strict are they on their fair usage policy? 20GB per day on the 20MB package.

I've never been throttled and I have gone over the 20GB a day limit a lot of times.

How is it working out for you? Did John do the installation?

It's going ok so far. Getting between 15-20MB every download test. The only streaming service I've tried so far is NFL Gamepass and thats been a little up and down. Streams fine for ages but then quality will drop to the lowest suddenly for a minute or 2. Acid test will be Sunday night when I'm trying to stream the live games. I'll be hoping to stream for a couple or hours at 2400 Kbps.

Ya its been awful today. 1mbs 1 minute, 15 the next. Totally unless for streaming live sport. I've a support ticket logged with them so lets see what they say...

Just to update on the support ticket. They got me to test my connection before the router, so directly connected to the wired connection. I did this Monday & Tuesday evening and each time got varying speeds. Lowest probably 3 Mbps and highest up to 17 Mbps.
After sending Nova the results they escalated to a engineer who came back and said there is nothing they can do, that when they test I am showing an 18 Mbps connection.
It has been fine the last 2 evenings so I'll see how it goes.
Sunday evening again will be the test when I want to stream live HD NFL.

I'd be happy if I could get a constant 10 Mbps, it's the constant fluctuation that's the issue, the worst being last Sunday when it when it was going all the way down to below 1 Mbps. Also not really good customer service simply telling me there is nothing technically they can do.

I'm on the southside of the city, close to the airport. If you can get Nova then based on what you're getting now I'd go for it.

Will see in the next few days but mainly use it for downloading steam/psn/itunes content etc and online games, with eircom i get 3mb until 6pm then until 12 im lucky if i get half a meg + pings atm are around 300-400ms all day

Any of your speedtest give ya a ping result for nova?

Also about your streaming results its possible its just the servers for the content your getting sky on demand is usually all over the place people complain on there forums all the time

After being pretty good for thr last 2-3 days its been terrible again today. These are tests from phone sat right beside router.

ping should definately not be going over 1000? make sure you let them know about it thats not really acceptable

I ordered mine yesterday, anything better than what i get from eircom will be worth it but 1000 ping is shocking

Nova very bad again today. Gaming with nova has been crap for the last 3-6 months. Its not just about having a low ping, you also need a consistent ping and even on good days in game goes from 50ms to 120ms. My advice is to avoid them until they can get these problems sorted out. I'm in manor farm towards the airport. I suspect other people in my area are having the same problem.

Im around the Killavullen area I'll chime in when i get mine installed, also im playing csgo the last few months with 400 ping with eircom 120 would be a dream

Snap. Same estate. Only got Nova 2 weeks ago after sticking with Digiweb DSL for a year and a half. Nova is wildly inconsistent so far. Just waiting until eircom finally decide to hook up that fibre cab, been sitting there idle a year now.

The next time I log a support ticket with nova I'll mention other people in the estate are having the same problem. Eircom's current plan for fibre in that cab is end of October. With a bit of luck that date will not change.

Had mine a few days now pings to irish / uk servers are 10-30ms pings outside that are 50-100, 100ms was the most i saw ingame so far, overall the speeds been great few hrs a night it gets congested but i havent seen it drop below 7mb yet, twitch / youtube and sky on demand all work great in fact youtube is so fast it almost loads the whole video instantly. Overall very happy with the service atm listed my speeds below

This is my speed at off peak time

At peak time my speed goes down to 7-12mb I suppose its gonna happen but its more than enough to stream anything i want without issues

Ya my connection is pretty much the same now. The issues I was having seem to have been fixed by the engineer repointing my receiver to a different base.
