Adding a second router

    Hi Boarders

First-time poster here, so excuse the simple/stupid question. We all have to begin somewhere!

I have the high-speed broadband through Vodafone which works very well. The router is HG658c.
I have several teenagers in the house that are spending all day and all night using WiFi and I want to be able to control their usage, specially as they are about to go back to school (thank God)
I know I could simply turn it off, but then I can't use it and I do need to use it at night.

I was wondering if I could use a splitter to run a second router. The first one, to which they have access could be turned off at night. They would not have the security key to the second and only my wife and I would have access to that.

Is there a better way to get around this problem? I would greatly appreciate your advice.

I contacted Vodafone, and the technical advice person said it could be done but they couldn't do it. They also said that I (the paying customer!) would not be able to do it myself as I would not have the know-how, and they could not advise me as to
who could do it! That annoyed me most of all and that's why I'm here looking for your help.

    Looking forward to your input
    Romer

The Huawei unit probably has "Time of Day" rules. You can implement these to block certain devices/users at certain times. If a boardsie on vodafone has a few minutes to have a look around it should be easy to post a few screenshots.

Get a technical buddy to pop over and sort it out, doing support for stuff like this remotely is tedious - especially as it may bring your network down.

Basically, buy second access point - connect to first via cable or powerline, make sure dhcp server is only enabled on one. Pretty simple.
