Looking to get a second car, i have a mk4 GTI its at 210 bhp but i want something more agile, sportier, go kart handling but in a car.

I would like something like a v6 clio or a s2000, or a mr2. need something that is relatively stable engine wise also.

really not sure, biggest problem is that i am 6'6 and need decent cabin space

very lost and would love some advice

    thanks a million

    oh about 2000 euro

Alfa GTV TS. Not as fast as what you have but it'll be hard to find another fwd car that can touch the handling of this in standard form

Or if you can find one in Ireland, GTV 2.0 turbo. They do exist ;)

    V6 Clio for 2k? Right.

Presume you mean a 172 Clio, which could be gotten in your budget. Will handle better than your Golf but won't be anywhere as near as quick in a straight line.

I'd consider upgrading the anti-roll bars, poly bush the Wishbones and even go for a spring/damper combination if you wanted to keep the Golf. Makes a massive difference.

Where are you getting decent 20 vt for 2k. There's 3 on done deal, one asking 3500 but it's an le and if I'd 3,5 burning a hole in my pocket I would.
The other is 1500, but needs a decent amount of work, the last is for sale by a car salvage company.....

I'd agree with dgt, the handling of the gtv is unreal, however you might find them too slow on the straight. Doesn't bother me as I prefer doing 120 on a windy road and not need to brake than180 on the straight.

For your budget you won't get an s2000 anyway. Neither a Clio.

I am speaking from experience. I got my 20VT for sub 2k over a year ago and it has been a good car.

What is on Donedeal currently is not a true representation of what they sell for. The black LE on DD has been for sale ages, it looks an absolutely wonderful example and I've seen it on the fccuk forum and looks well worth the asking to me but if it hasn't sold yet - and it has been up a while - it probably says a bit about their value.

You can ask whatever you want but any decently priced (say 1.5k - 3k) good 20VTs I've seen that have come up on DoneDeal have sold rather quickly.

All the fun of a go kart as its made with rallying in mind for the J-WRC:D

I had a 2k ish Fiat Coupe 20VT plus 2000 and although its a beautiful car and engine combo the preventative maintance costs would bankrupt most folks :o

I know what your saying, I was just wondering where the sub 2k one was.
You'll probably kill me for this, as you're a coupe fan but I'd love to put te 20vt into my gtv! :p

Op if you can stretch your budget a little, this car is meant to be fairly decent and wicked fast

I have decent coil overs, but the front feels loose and crashy, I updated sone bushes with Audi tt parts, still disappointing

That looks like a bit of fun, was thinking of lupo gti or the gti polo with the 1.8t.
I had a mk2 16v and loved it, but I think I am sick of VW.

That would be an awesome combo to be fair. The GTV is probably the slightly prettier of the two anyway.

Yea I went through a heap of older VWs myself including mk2 16v.s and the Suzuki is every bit as fun with its revvy little VVT 16v while being a lot better on juice too..Slightlly faster than the 1.6 lupo and polo gtis too;)

you wont get the newer 1.8T polo gti for your budget sadly but going by the reviews they are underwhelming anyway:o

Polybush your wishbones and upgrade the anti roll bars. Its one of the best mods you can do on a MK4 GTi in terms of handling.

After that, anything in budget probably wont feel as quick in a straight line but may handle better.

If they are like the regular Focus then they are very nice, sharp handling especially compared to the Mk IV Golf.
