Thinking of playing in an open "Gents 3-Person Team" on Cork Golf club on Tuesday. Anyone know how that works. I'm fairly new to team events?

For starters you would want a team first. As in 3 people.
Rarely if ever would you find strangers randomly mixed going into such an event.
Unless there's actually 3 of you going don't bother. You will not get a game.

You probably found this out by now.

Could be anything really, could be a scramble, 2 scores to count everywhere, 1 score to count on 16 holes then 2 on 17 and 3 on 18, could be yellow ball, could be full or combined handicap, or could be where the lowest player plays off scratch then you all deduct that player's original handicap from yours.

If it matters to you then call them and find out, scrambles are great fun as you don't have to play well to enjoy it and everyone contributes.
