Excellent news, that and with the soundtrack from Guardians of the Galaxy, it was like the 80s never went away.

Sierra and Papyrus, producing many a great NASCAR racing and Indycar games that fueled my sim-racing urges when I was younger. Good proper racers for their time and still have pockets of the community supporting them still today.

Sierra were the publishers but it was Impressions Games (and later Tilted Mill) who developed both it, the Caeser series, Zeus and Emperor.

I loved Pharaoh, it's up there with C&C for me in awesomeness :)

Emperor - as in battle for Arakis? Edit: cant be, that would have been westwood

Nope, Emperor as in Emperor: Rise of the Middle Kingdom, the Ancient China entry in the same City Building Series as Caeser, Pharaoh et al. :)

Man, when I think of gaming in the late 90's / early 00's I always think of Sierra and that intro they had.

Started playing Swat 4 with the brother, never played it properly before but it's a funny and challenging game. Nothing like a good dose of pepper spray and tasering to get civilians down on the ground :D

So will this be Sierra in name only or are any of the previous employees coming to work for Activision?

Nice! Read a good book recently which had details of the founding of the company. Interesting stuff!

The Sierra that is being revived appears to be just the publishing label who, according to most reports, is being formed to "serve as an umbrella for a number of independent studios to reinterpret some classic gaming franchises."

With Jane Jenson involved in Moebius, the Space Quest guys involved in SpaceVenture and Roberta Williams either out of games or involved in a Facebook game, I'm keeping my expectations firmly in check on this one even if the initial announcements bode rather well.
