Force majeure on JobBridge

I was reading over the jobbridge terms, it allows up to ten days sick leave, after which the internship is terminated. Any idea if Force Majeure leave is allowed on top of this?
It's tough enough for a parents to cover childcare for 50 euro extra a week, without being kicked off the scheme because their child was sick.

If the child is in hospital very sick (God forbid) and there is no other adult available to sit with the child, then that would be force majeure.

It doesn't have to be the case of hospitalisation, a sick child at home with no carer should qualify:
An employee shall be entitled to leave with pay from his or her employment, to be known and referred to in this Act as “force majeure leave”, where, for urgent family reasons, owing to an injury to or the illness of a person specified in subsection (2), the immediate presence of the employee at the place where the person is, whether at his or her home or elsewhere, is indispensable.

But force majeure cannot be used for extended periods - only for a day or so until alternate arrangements can be put in place.

You also need to remember that the maximum amount of leave is 3 days in any 12-month period or 5 days in a 36-month period. You are entitled to be paid while you are on force majeure leave and your employer may grant you further leave.

JobBridge interns are not employees so force majeure would not apply.

Sick Leave – The maximum cumulative sick leave permissible over the course of an internship is 2 weeks (10 working days). Where an Intern has exceeded this limit, the Host Organisation shall terminate the internship immediately.

Best bet might be to ask host organization for some flexibility with how you use your Annual Leave days so that they might be used at short notice in the event of a child's sudden illness.

Annual Leave – Interns will be entitled to all Public Holidays and 1.75 days
annual leave for each month that they participate on the National Internship
    Scheme.

I received a response from JobBridge today who told me:

"Force Majeure leave should be treated in accordance with the Host Organisation's existing HR policies."

I would have liked to add this information to the thread for future reference.

Please see update above from OP
