broadband without landline

I'm about to move into a rental property. I would need a respectable broadband connection, ideally 10mb or upwards with unlimited usage.
The only issue is, there has never been a landline connected. I don't know if I'm correct in assuming that, this would mean I can't get Vodafone, Eircom etc
If I am right, could anyone recommend a provider? Or correct me if I'm wrong

    • How long do you plan to rent this place
    • Can you get UPC
    • You could also get a landline

Its a minimum of a year lease, all going to plan I will stay longer.
I'm sure UPC are in the area, do you not need a landline for a UPC connection?
Would getting a landline involve a cost? I'm trying to do it as cheaply as possible

Landline is like a phone line, like what's up on poles. UPC use a cable tv line to carry the broadband.
You normally get a phone package with the broadband with most providers.
In rare cases, you can get broadband on its own - but these sometimes actually cost more.

What are you planning to do for TV ? If you were getting UPC for the TV, then get them for BB as well.

Is 4G available in your area, some of the "All you can eat" data packages from Three are not bad.

TV would be Netflix and Saorview. I cant justify paying for a TV package with how little I would use it.
I rang Vodafone in the end. They said it would take 20 to 25 days to get an engineer out which should mean they'll be here in the next couple of days.
They said they can connect me for free, give me a free modem and unlimited usage for €35 a month.
Fingers crossed I'll be up and running before the end of next week!!

Over a month since I made contact with Vodafone. Still dont have internet. According to an engineer I spoke to, they registered me to an address in Carlow around Monacurragh as opposed to Bagenalstown.
    Top class!
