hi all. i have a site on which i am applying for planning permission for a dwelling. there is a bit of a slope on the site, not too much but noticeable all the same. am considering cutting out a platform but would a split level dwelling be better? is one a more expensive option or are there any reasons i should opt for one over the other. thanks.

A dwelling designed to suit a slope can fit the landscape / blend in, generally better than a chunk taken out of the side of a hill.

The cost depends on the site specifics of the cut & fill

When we first chose the site for our house i thought we had picked a level(ish) field but when i stuck the laser on it, there was a 16ft fall from where the rear yard would start to the end of the front yard. We knew for sure that we didn't want a retaining wall as i think whats the point of building a house to look out at a block wall, so we just raised the house up at the front with tonnes and tonnes of rock and landscaped it in to blend into the original field.
Its costly, but depends what you want to look at the rest of your days, feel like you're down in a hole or having a view?
