End of Year Models - Felt Z85-105 - When is best time to buy

    Hi,
I am looking at upgrade from flatbar to road bike in a few weeks time when bank balance recovers.
Looking around now there is what seems a great deal on wiggle for a Felt Z85 at €852, which is my preferred choice.

I know it's a "how long is a piece of string" type question, but does anyone know how long these offers typically last. It would suit me much better to wait a month or 6 weeks to buy (time to sell current bike etc), but don't want to go back and find that 2014 stock is gone and new stock is back at full price which would take the bike out of my price range.

You can see the stock levels for each size. Many have 10+, but a couple have less (currently 9 and 5)

I would guess (and it really is a guess) they won't be topping up their stocks, but if the size you want goes down to a stock of 5 or so you're probably better off piling in, or if you have to wait, maybe you will then be looking at a different brand or model

Of course they will be promoting their sale items, so you would need to check back regularly as stock levels may drop quickly (and equally "of course" they could discontinue the sale at any time particularly if there is a significant pick up in sales)

Any view on the bike/price? 850 for a felt with 105 looks pretty good to me. Was quoted 1300 for same from LBS. They may not have had the felt reductions yet.

That price with that groupset is a good deal.

That seems a great price for the spec!

I bought a Felt Z6 from Wiggle in Jan this year - I had to wait for the BTW to come around again. The bike had a 38% discount but did vary a bit (less discount) up to then. WRT availability, it stayed at that price for a month or two afterwords.

As you say - "how long is a piece of string" ;-)

I have the 2012 Z85 - very similar spec. I paid almost 1300 from LBS for it 2 years ago - so that's a great deal. I've done over 6600km on it so far and I think it's a great bike (it's my first proper road bike so I've got limited frame of reference admittedly!). I upgraded the wheels last year and noticed a big difference, but that's the only change I've made to it so far.

Just returning to close this out. I have noticed lots of "what bike should I buy" threads, and people are always very helpful, as they were in this thread. I thiink it is because if you are not currently spending you can get some vicarious fun out of other people buying a bike. I think I am at that point now that I have bought a bike, and won't get to have that fun for a while again!!!
If thats the case it may be good manners for the OP to close off those threads looking for advice with info on what it was one bought.

In my case I didn't go for the bike I was askng about here but did after much dithering and postponing go for a Rose Pro SL 2000. Oh and I am thrilled with it.

So come on, if you started a "what bike should I buy" thread, do finish it out when you purchase and let people know what you picked. :-)
