    Hiya,

Right so I have some experience in accounts. I'm starting a two year accounting technician course in September.

I want to kill a whole flock of birds with the two stones if you will ;)

I was wondering have any of you undertook ACCAs whilst studying the accounts technician course? How did you find it?

I know I'll have exemptions, I want to get the oxford Brooke's accounting degree through the ACCAs so it would be nice to have the accounting technician, acca & degree over four years instead of five..

    All feedback welcome guys

Just out of curiosity, why are you doing the 2 year accounting technician course? If I'm correct, you will only get 3 exemptions from accounting technician qualification.

I started ACCA from scratch (arts degree background) and passed the first 3 in 2 months (home study) and the next two in the following 3 months (course) so it literally took me only about 5-6 months to pass 6 ACCA exams.

I'd say go straight to ACCA course instead of doing the technician one.

I have been out of work for the past year, I'm using the accounting technician to tip my toes in the water if you will, I then plan on working as one until completion of my accas, which I will hopefully have completed by then.

Yeah only three exemptions, they weren't the reason behind my decision though :) I've registered for the December exams so hopefully all will go well.

Fair play to ya for having the initiatives but i still think it's better to go down the ACCA route straight away - more job opportunities and recognition there, not that I'm not recognising accounting technicians. The jobs aren't too different either for both ACCA and accounting technician candidates if you know what I mean.

I know exactly what you mean, acca is more widely recognised that's for sure!
Hopefully I'll be sitting three in December, three in June and finishing them off next year so I'll have them all sorted around the same time :)

Guess I just think, and it's only my opinion, but that I'd stand a better chance of getting a job with the technician, acca and oxford Brooke's degree than just with two of the three, I could be wrong of course but I'll give it a shot sure :)
