    A friend sought my advice but while i suspect I know the answer I thought it best to seek the definitive answer here! She is in seasonal employment and has been working 13 hours per week when working. When the business is closed she is paid sw ( job seekers I think)
    Each of the last few years her hourly rate has been cut but this year the rate and number of hours offered is being reduced. She's disinclined to stay given the successive reductions but as her spouse is in full time employment my thinking is that she would disentitle herself to sw if she simply quits- she thinks not.
    Any advice welcome- I don't mind being proven wrong!

    If she leaves the job without good reason then she can be disqualified for anything up to 9 weeks.

    Thanks- would cut in hours and rate necessarily be deemed good reasons or would that be down to an individual assessor?

    She's not leaving this job. She's been offered a job with certain terms and she doesn't feel those terms are suitable/fair.

    My reading of the situation is that the person the OP is referring to is currently in seasonal employment but her hours keep being reduced. If she leaves this job then she may be disqualified for anything up to 9 weeks. She could make a case for herself stating thats its actually costing more to work than not work e.g. travel costs, childcare costs. She could also look around for something with more hours.

    That's it exactly, and she does intend seeking employment, she would stay where she is were there not annual pay cuts and reductions in hours.

    Hi i hope anyone could give me advice. My friend has been working in a full time job for only 1 month. However, she is getting on very bad with her boss and feels she is being treated unfairly compared to other employees. If she quits this job will she have to wait 9 weeks like i've heard or can she get on sw before then?

    It would depend on the deciding officer and your friends statement re leaving job and also the reason given by employer.
