    Hi guys

I've noticed that we don't have an updated, general, all-Ireland open mic/showcase thread on here. I'd like to start one, beginning with a few I know in Galway. Anyone else care to join in? Maybe just post the county, the name of the gig, the contact info, where its held and when and a tiny blurb, like whether its a curated showcase ya need to apply for, or an open mic you just show up for, etc.

    GALWAY:

OPEN MIC NIGHT at THE ROSIN DUBH
    www.facebook.com/openmicgalway
Open Mic, think it's a first come, first play type thing

B.Y.O.B. (Bring Your Own Band) OPEN MIC
Padriag's Place, Galway City (on the docks) 9 pm Thursdays
does what it says on the tin.

    THE ROSIN SESSIONS
    theroisinsessions@gmail.com
Galway City at The Rosin Dubh
Invite-only showcase, contact for more info

    MNÁ MNÁ MUSIC
    mnamnamusic@gmail.com
Galway City, Third Thursdays at The Cellar Bar
Invite-only women, women-led band/artist showcase, contact for info

    THE YETI SUITE
    theyetisuite@gmail.com
    Galway City, (unsure what venue)
Invite-only Showcase, contact for more info

    Anyone Else, Anywhere Else?

Anyone any experience of open mics in the Turks head or the Patriot Inn ??

Would they be suitable for a 4-piece ?

    Hey Bruz,
I'm involved in running the Divebar sessions in the Turks Head, and the Jailbreak Sessions in the Patriot inn.

We would definitly be able to accomodate a 4 piece in the Patriot. In the Divebar we don't really have the gear, but we'd be willing to give it a try. What's your line-up?

Hi Bluevoice, the Open Mic in the Patriots Inn is actually on the first Wednesday of the month, and it's called the Jailbreak Sessions.

    Hi CClancy,
So we have Bass,Guitar,Keyboards and Singing. We also have additional box drum and backing voices but for the divebar Session we could keep it to the bare minimum if needed, and possible bring some equipment if also.
Is it fair to say the next Open mic in the Patriot will be Wed 4th of February then ?? (as we could be interested in that).

Also what is the normal time you get on stage ?

    Richard

Hey Richard, Wednesday the 4th is the day.

Bring Amps, DI boxes if you have/need them. bring all cables. How many vocals you got? We have 4 mic stands/ mics.
As it's an open mic we like to do a quick turn-around of acts, but I think with what you guys have we can get you on stage quickly. We normally start at around 9:30 but we start setting up around 8 if you want to come in early.

We would have a max of 3 vocals . Sounds good.
How long is the set .....e.g 15/20 mins each ??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23 Cclancy

It depends on the amount of people we have, but yeah, 15 - 20 minutes is usual. 3 to 4 songs.
