Car upgrade for child seat

    Hi all,

I'm looking to swap my 2007 1.2 zetec Ford Fiesta for a car that can take ISO-FIX seats. Borrowing my Mam's Clio at the moment which isn't sustainable.

I'll have about 6-7k to spend, and had been looking at a 2008-10 1.6tdci MKII Focus. The boring choice I know, but it seems to tick all the boxes in terms of safety, boot space for the buggy, iso-fix and running costs.

I was thinking either the Zetec or Titanium spec. Titanium might be a comfier ride for baby, as the Zetec's a bit firmer?

Any other good alternatives to the Focus in terms of reliability, safetly etc? Ceed, Civic, i30?

    Cheers lads.

If Isofix is the only reason for the change, it would be very easily retro-fitted to your own car. If you want to change anyway, the 1.8 tdci is the better engine in terms of reliability, I believe. Best of luck car hunting.

Cheers Pablo, as far as I'm aware the MK 5/6 can't retro-fit the isofix mounts.

Look at the Hyundai i30 and Kia Ceed too.

For some reason I read your initial post as you having a Focus. Sorry!:o

A properly installed non isofix is just as safe as an isofix, just slightly lower in convenience. If you're around Dublin, pop by Tony Kealeys in walkinstown and talk to them about car seats to suit your car.
