So since the day ive moved in next door do nothing but make fecking noise.

It starts first thing in the morning and carry's on until late at night and when i say late im talking not far off twelve at times. Its mostly there kids there's two or three of them i think i even remember when i was moving in they stood outside and glared at me while i was bringing stuff in there mother does the same thing when shes outside as well so i guess i know where they get it from!.

Anyway as i sit here typing this i can hear one of them screaming and ****ing things across the floor!. The walls aint very thick between us so u can hear all kinds and its even worse in my bedroom. What makes this even worse is ive an 8 month old and there waking him up at night now as well.

If its not the kids making noise someone is moving bloody furniture around at night as well and by moving i mean dragging. I would ****ing love to do something i wont say on here but ya......

Anyone have similar issues and what did you end up doing?

    Ahhh noisy neighbours.
The people who live below us do be very fecking noisy.
We think its a one bed apartment but it usually sounds like there are five of them having a great time... and then the stink of weed starts to seep through the vents.
Also people across the street have started playing loud music... with their speakers hung out the window. So it's louder outside than in.

Borrow a set of big speakers if you don't have one. Go on a holiday for a weekend and leave Slayer playing full blast on repeat while you're out.

They'll become a little more conscious about noise after that :pac:

How about manning the **** up and speaking to the parent about it then?

Irish solution. Just move. Don't get involved in any sort of confrontation. Ever. Move. Far away.

Kill their parents and feed them to your neighbours in a delicious chilli.

Start learning the bagpipes/the drums and problem is solved.

Also, only practice between the hours of 2am and 5am.

I think this is the only reasonable course of action.

The very same here, OP. The neighbours have been here around five years. The lady, who lived there before, sadly passed away. She was one of the nicest people you could meet, and there was little, if no noise from her. Then, this shower moved in. Even before they did, drills and sawing would be going on until all hours, despite a couple of complaints from us. Then, the night they moved in, I was woken to the sound of one of the three brats screaming the place down. I hoped there wouldn't be kids, so my heart sank when I heard.

Since then, we've had to put up with kids screaming, shouting or crying; parents shouting at the kids, or having the occasional row; doors slamming at all hours, or just the sound of footsteps and things being moved on the wooden floors. There has been the odd party, which, despite us complaining at being kept awake by the noise, didn't stop until a good while later.

When advice was sought to the Gardaí before a party was due to start, we were told it was up to the guard on duty at the time whether the party could be stopped (if it went on too late), and when they were called later that night, the guard on duty said nothing could be done.

Unless a house is rented, where the landlord can evict tenants for noise pollution, as a homeowner, feck all can be done. A neighbour of ours is a guard, who said a number of years ago, that people are entitled to their peace after 10pm and not before 7am. At the moment the neighbours are quiet, but I am just waiting for the noise to start again later.

*Ehhhh. . .I spoke too soon about them being quiet. The noise has started again!

Start working really, really long hours. This is a win win as you will be worn out when you come home and will sleep through an earthquake, plus make loads of money and be able to move to a nicer house. This won't help your kid or girlfriend, but their suffering will spur you on to make your millions even faster.

Noisy neighbours have been the bane of our lives. The first thing to do is have a polite chat with the parents, it'll probably be pointless and they might get arsey with you but it needs to be done. Failing that blast the fcuk out of them with noise at really outrageous times when they're asleep. Honestly, put on really loud music at 4am or do anything that's really intrusively annoying to them, particularly after they've been especially noisy.

If nothing changes you'll at least have the satisfaction of payback. Juvenile?, absolutely but the alternatives are either move out or be a doormat. If you say nothing, nothing will change.

The reason i wouldnt even be arsed with the music thing is well id wake up my own child and that be stupid :p and then the neighbors on the other side of me i get on quite well with never hear a word out of them so theres no point pissing them off.

Probably says more about the quality of the construction of your home's than anything else. People make noise, a family will make even more noise. I'm sure the neighbors complain about your 8 month old as well.

Weather u believe me or not he doesnt cry at night so thats not an issue and if he was to start he be stopped quick enough.

Ya the walls are crap nothing i can do about it not like i own the place anyway.

Theres noise an then theres just doing stupid **** threw out the day for no reason. Who the **** drags furniture around at mad hours of the night and why ?

I'd bet that moving furniture thing is actually just an office chair. Your walls are likely terrible, guilt the f*ck out of them with talk of the kid crying and whatnot while you plan to move out would be my recommendation.

I was thinking that but the walls aint that bad :pac: it sounds like a big wooden table been dragged around.

I'm not reading that novel op because the only way to deal with neighbour issues is to confront them, call over and have a chat.

Like i said before id be wasting my time. If i get into details about why id be wasting my time then the thread will go down the same path many others have on here and guess who will get in trouble for it :pac:.

Ahh, that changes things completely. If you're renting I'd honestly say move now if it's bothering you and your partner. We had neighbours from Hell with young kids, total scumbags who made our lives Hell, long story and no need to go into details, but seriously if you rent just move. Life is too fcuking short.

Looking at somewhere else soon enough so watch this space :pac:.

We're not in a position to move, I really wish that we were. You can't put a price on peace and quiet. I'm sick to death of putting ear plugs in every weekend hoping I'll get some sleep and listening to the tenants upstairs tv blasting til midnight 3 nights a week. There's lots of crap that's happened and I can honestly, hand on heart, say just move.

You dont know me if i go in there and start anything ill end up telling them what i think of them in every detail and ya that wouldnt be a good idea at all trust me. Id love to complain but id be wasting my time if i move out of here anytime soon ill think of something to do then :pac:.

Basically if it was just me and me girlfriend here it would annoy me they would still be annoying bastards but id say **** it its just the fact you spend all day looking after your son doing baby stuff all day we finally get five minutes to ourselves when he goes to bed and someone keeps waking him ****ing up!.

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.
