Oooh Jesus, is he the 2nd coming? Brand calls for a spiritual revolution. Hmmm, I used to think he was fabulously and cleverly sexy but this new God Head routine? ....call me cynical but he sounds like he's gearing up to have all his future autobiographers write a big bumper version of existence-as-we-know-it according to Russell (The Booky Wook Bible? The Biblely Wibely?) over the next few hundred years and be heading up a new religion for the next 10 centuries or so. So...Fair play to him, Sexy Jesus rocks or FFS, pass me a buckety wuckety?

Russell Brand: I think that this is an interesting time. I think people are interested once more in formulating a different society. I think people are kind of bored with being exploited, they're bored with a kind of cultural narrative that supports elitism and exploits the people.

The planet is being destroyed, we're creating an underclass, we're exploiting poor people all over the world, and there are genuine, legitimate problems of the people that are not being addressed.

The problem is that what's happened-- and this is what I believe in, mate-- is that certain cultural narratives are being promoted that are beneficial only to elites. These cultural narratives are not true.

I think of contemporary bipartisan politics as a meaningless spectacle designed to distract you from where power truthfully dwells. Politics just needs to be the administration of certain spiritual principles. For me, the spiritual principles that are important are that we're all one, we're all together, and every individual's rights need to be respected. I think that we need to see politics as the implementation of spiritual principles of oneness, togetherness, tolerance of one another, and making sure that people are taken care of. This is what I think. I think we need a spiritual revolution more than a political one.

I believe profoundly in the power of humanity. I believe that we are connected. I believe that there's an inevitability to a successful revolution. This is a change in consciousness we're experiencing and I feel that we will survive. There's going to be radical changes. I think we need to be looking at the world as-- it's a bit worried for your new world order thing-- but I think we need to look at the world as one inclusive entity. We need to look at how many people there are on the planet. We need to look at the resources that are available and what's the most sensible thing to do with them. There's going to be a massive change for the power structures as they currently exist.

You cannot define yourself in reference to other external coordinates. You must define yourself internally with your relationship with a higher entity. Think of yourself as a manifestation of some higher thing, some higher frequency. This is the visible realization. And you know that, because you can't see atoms, can you? You certainly can't see the forces that hold atoms together. There, in the micro, quantum world, Richard, lie the answers to everything. We can't understand it with our logical, rational minds, but we can feel it intuitively. Get yourself in alignment with that stuff and you're being like the sun.

I hold as an elemental truth that there is oneness, that this is a temporary illusion that we temporarily occupy these flesh puppets, that we believe so much in our identities, we believe in our individualism. And I'm one to talk because I'm a very egotistical man. Look at my hair, look at these braces, look at these ridiculous boots, I am a person who believes in the nature of my own individualism and my own identity. But on a deeper level I recognize that all these things are transient and what's important and what's defining are these things that we all share: love, unity, togetherness. As long as we have cultural narratives that shoo these ideas, that suppress these ideas, in favor of negative human traits-- greed, selfishness, lust-- as long as these ideals are promoted we will exist in opposition to one another and we will be exploitable by corporations that prey upon these negative facets of humanity.

There's going to be a revolution. It's totally going to happen. I haven't got a flicker of doubt. This is the end. This is time to wake up. Like it says in the Lord's Prayer, "on earth as it is in Heaven," there are subtler dimensions, subtler frequencies, of which we are the realization. If we become in tune with a different narrative, a different story, we live as God would have us live, then the world will change automatically. It will just happen automatically. Somebody said, I think it might have been Prabhupada, that a cave could have been in darkness for ten thousand years but as soon as the light is put on, as soon as a match is struck, boom, the light is there, so the light is coming.

I always thought he was a witless wanker myself, and I've never taken notice of anything he has said. That is not going to change.

I listened to it before I read it. They may have actually speeded him up, as well as chopping and editing. But it does make him seem very messianic.

Y'know, just as with everything else Russell Brand says, I don't hear about it till somebody posts it on here...

    :D

I hear he's good at comedy and stuff. I'm not really into comedy so... Meh.

Dave Allen did 'religion' better. RB ain't no Dave Allen.

Brand is a savant, essentially. He basically absorbs mega amounts of **** he hears and reads and sees, and then he pours it all back out at a bizarre speed and volume that seems to impress naive people who think that he must be intelligent.
