An Appeal To Atheist Ireland:

I was looking at the front page of this forum and I see a thread on Gaza/Israel and I see so much effort by AI being put into such as a (IMO) non-issue as multi-denominational schools vs non-denominational schools and I began to think about how many children would have died during the putting together of that piece by Michael Nugent.

It kills me that I cannot do anything to change what is happening in Gaza but AI can speak out: issue their condemnation on their website, make youtube videos, educate their twitter and Facebook followers, use their contacts in the media to get their message out.

Everything for a secularists outrage is in place. You have a talented writer in Michael Nugent, who has committed to speak out against "any religion" and if ever there was a time to speak out against the Jewish state it is now as they commit massacre after massacre of non-Jews.

You have Jewish lawmakers, part of the coalition government and from a party who believe the Land of Israel is promised to Jews by God calling for the genocide of non-Jews who are in their way
    http://electronicintifada.net/blogs/ali-abunimah/israeli-lawmakers-call-genocide-palestinians-gets-thousands-facebook-likes

You have Rabbis saying it is justifiable to kill civilians.

    What else do you need?

So you want Atheist Ireland to do what exactly? Make a few videos and post on twitter, what good does that do and whats stopping you from doing the same?

Atheist Ireland has a job to do in Ireland, it has very limited resources and it goes without saying that killing innocent people = bad regardless of religion they might be. In honesty I don't think AI need to state the obvious here.

If you want action taken against these crimes then lobby your TD, contact the government as it'll have a far more meaningful action then posting some stuff on the internet. Or lobby well paid organizations like the catholic church who have power and tonnes of money.

Of course a religion speaking out about another religion won't happen

imho Atheist Ireland has work to do in Ireland....hence the name "Atheist Ireland".

Atheist Ireland found the time to condemn Islam in a debate with a BRITISH journalist to defend a BRITISH atheist on BRITISH radio.

I consider condemning the slaughter of children in the name of God a far more worthwhile pursuit than defending atheists who make bigoted comments a far more noble and worthwhile pursuit. Don't you?

I was looking at the front page of this forum and I see a thread on Gaza/Israel ..............

It's nothing to do with them. Next you'll want the society for the deaf working for the blind. There are organisations that lobby for the Palestinian cause as is.

Brown Bomber, how do you feel about elected Palestinian leaders Hamas spending $450m aid on terror tunnels & rockets instead of schools, housing & hospitals?

Alexander Aan jailed today in Indonesia – Intensify campaign for his release and for repeal of blasphemy laws

By Atheist Ireland | Published: 14 June, 2012
Atheist Ireland condemns the jail sentence imposed today on Indonesian civil servant Alexander Aan for sharing material on Facebook about the Prophet Mohammad. The law should protect people from harm, and not protect ideas from criticism.
We ask all Irish people to contact the Indonesian embassy demanding his immediate release, and to ask the Irish Government to urgently raise the issue with the Indonesian authorities.

Atheist Ireland found the time to condemn Islam in a debate with a BRITISH journalist to defend a BRITISH atheist on BRITISH radio.

    Ok I'll bite,
    - UK & Ireland have very large English speaking population, we share many common cultures and histories.
    - There is a very large Irish population in the UK.
    - They were speaking about an Atheist, I think that counts as pretty relevant to Atheist Ireland.
I consider condemning the slaughter of children in the name of God a far more worthwhile pursuit than defending atheists who make bigoted comments a far more noble and worthwhile pursuit. Don't you?

Taking action in relation to the killing is a very worth while pursuit, however the world can't and doesn't stop while this sort of stuff is happening. As such you can't expect for example the Irish Cancer society to condemn this sort of activity as well, its just silly. Organizations have a role and AI's role is clear, its very much Atheist related.

Far far far more appropriate and powerful organizations that can change this situation exist and both you and I know this. So why waste your time posting this thread when you could be busy posting on twitter like you want AI to do?

BB its a sad afair that you've basically just started this thread to have a good old bitch and dig at AI. You know what AI remit is and you know that if you want something done about children being murdered then organizations you should be interacting with and AI is not one of them.
Hell you could even take part in some protests yourself with organizations specifically discussing this issue.

I suggest you get outside and enjoy an ice cream as already suggested, would do you the world of good.

Isn't this like the very thing you'd normally object to? I've outlined my issues with Gaza situation to my local tds but I really wouldn't think that it's AI responsibility to be involved in this issue. They lobby for a more secular Ireland, they're not here to resolve international conflicts.

Yeah, but when you've a running problem with that group and its posts in this forum, its a nice excuse to throw muck.

Once again Atheist Ireland published a press release about Alexander Aan being jailed.....Alexander Aan is of course an Atheist.

How is this press release not appropriate for AI?

Seriously, just go outside and have that ice cream, You're showing yourself up now

There's no answer to a post with a sentence like this. Cop yourself on if you want to continue posting in this forum.

If you want to go making appeals to Atheist Ireland, then I suggest you do so on their forum:

I've just demonstrated that they take on international issues.

Can there actually be a more important secular issue than a group of people that consider themselves "chosen" by God slaughtering defenseless people day-after-day who they consider not "chosen" and who are under siege in a land the "chosen" believe was promised to them by God?

AI speaks of standing for "morality". There is nothing moral about staying silent about war crimes and human rights abuses.

How many Gazan atheists have been killed by the Jewish state? Do you know? Do you even care?

Ah come on... I've said nothing against Michael Nugent; in fact i quite like him. I've merely described him as a "talented writer" and quoted him when he said he would "speak out against any religion" - Though this remains to be seen...

I didn't come for a row, I haven't made any demands but a humble request for AI to use their powers for good.

    Do you know?
You don't appear to, yet you want AI to redirect its limited resources to something you appear to know nothing about and have no information on.

Even if a Atheist has been killed odds are it was a death caused by the bombing and it he/she was in no way a specific target of the bombing,

Its not like the Atheist was specially singled out and murdered by a bomb for being an Atheist so again your "want" for AI to specifically condemn the bombings remains silly.

In short, if an atheist was killed its no different to claiming a child was killed because they once played twister. Of course nothing so silly would happen, instead a child is killed because they were where the bomb was targeted at that time...not for what board games they've played or liked. Same can be said for an atheist, their none belief has nothing to do with the bomb hitting them or their home.

Of course if you want to talk about Atheists being singled out and treated badly in that region we could talk about Walid Husayin who was arrested by the Palestinian Authority for apparently blaspheming.

Now thats far more specific to AI as the person was specifically singled out for just being an Atheist and his Atheist views.

No. You want to know why? Because it makes no difference to me. Atheist blood being spilled is no more nor no less a tragedy to me.

Can you please point out the atheist in this from AI?

This month in the worlds clear bastion of love and equality known as Saudi Arabia a woman is to be whipped for the heinous crime of driving while being under the influence of…. being female. This in a country that does not yet allow women to vote but has finally announced a willingness to allow this. Maybe. But not until 2015.
Still with the vote coming and many women taking to cars despite the ban it is clear that theocracy is no longer enough to control our planets women like pets.

    No atheist here

Spates of angry Amish hair cutting and Satan turning people gay in the womb were all brushed aside by a landslide victory from Iraq this month.
The story that so swamped our polls was of 17-year-old student Rand Abdel-Qader – beaten to death by her father for her crush on a British soldier.
The crime was made only more horrific by the fact that the father was not only unrepentant but expressed remorse that he did not murder the girl when she was born to prevent her becoming what she became: A teenager with a crush.
But none of this compares with the fact he appears to still be free. The law supports his actions of having stamped on, suffocated and stabbed his daughter for her crime of growing up and under going normal human sexual awakening. Sent home with the congratulations of the police for being a real man of honor, he now lives alone with his sons of whom he is proud as they helped him kill the girl. Though he does warn them that if they become infected with homosexuality the same fate will befall them.

It's all he has, just like the Daily Heil with Ralph Miliband smears, he has no valid beef with AI, so he goes off and invents one inside his own head to get angry over.

It says a lot about the character of brown bomber that he constantly does things like this, none of it god.
