    Sounds like Adverts.

Have you been offered 1/3 of the asking price yet boss?

I've noticed its gone bad lately as I was trying to help my brother and BIL sell their cars. I just blamed the summer holidays.

I advertised my car at a higher price than any others on Donedeal and had no bother from timewasters. In fact I received absolutely no interest whatsoever.

Plenty of muppets out there with more time on the hands than money in their pocket or brain cells in their head. Unfortunately it's part and parcel of selling and buying things to Joe Public.

Wait until you start getting the scams involving guys working on oil rigs or in the foreign legion who want you to ship your van to them.

Selling anything on Adverts or Donedeal can be a major pain in the ar*se. These websites seem to be a magnet for wasters.

    Is carzone any better?

And of course after taking the time and effort to bring the car to them, they will have forgotten about the appointment and be somewhere else.

The free network calling certainly saw a huge increase in time wasters.

I think Carzone is a bit more grown-up. There is also the option of the Classified in the local paper.

Various versions of these guys always existed but have proliferated with the growth of t'internet and inclusive minutes.

I remember in the Buy and Sell days advertising a very competitively priced Polo in very good condition, the amount of chancers that called offering 20% of asking was unbelievable.

The most troubling experience happened to a friend of mine selling an immaculate Lancer from outside his house in Rathfarnham. Gouger arrives and offers a couple of hundred, upon being refused he advises my friend, "Ya should take it, it could get burnt tonight or anythin'." Lad was so freaked out he got his father to bring it down the country to sell.

One thing i have noticed on donedeal lately is the reduction of new items, i am referring to power tools garden equipment just wondering is the website in general slowing down in traffic and people selling else where?

Just noticed that today when looking for a new chainsaw. Possibly sellers of new equipment are sick of having to deal with too many of the swap/offer €50 chancers.

Sorry for veering off topic :o

To be fair some honda 50s are making bullying money, certain collectors get very erectile about them.

However, knowing the calibre of many of these DoneDeal users, it'd probably be a Honda 50 pulled out of a leaky shed last November after twenty years and left in a ditch since.

Was at a play last year called "Honda 50" but renamed "Ride On" due to copyright issues. They're popular yokes alright with their own dedicated following. :)

Do you have anywhere out the front of your house you can park it with a for sale sign on it? I've sold many cars that way in the past and it's great as time wasters generally don't stop and bother you. Alternatively, a local paper can be great. Even your mechanic (if you use one) might know someone seriously looking for a small van.

All the ways I use to try and avoid dungdeal.

Probably still going though. The most reliable machine Honda ever made.

Maybe there is less of this stuff around for the scumbags to rob and put up on Donedeal for sale?

    That should weed them out.

OP post the ad here and someone might make some suggestions that might reduce the clowns you are attracting.

I cant see anything that looks like it is drawing time wasters in.
Ad looks good could do with a shot of the front of the car but aside from that looks like an honest van.

    http://www.adverts.ie/commercial-vans/2000-citroen-xsara-1-9-diesel-van/6072141...

Ad specifies no swaps, second reply looks for a swap. Classic Adverts nonsense.

donedeal might be a better place for the ad

Thats the nature of trying to sell a car unfortunately.

Many probably weren't really interested as they don't have the money.
Others probably forgot as they are dunderbrains.
Some might have been looking at 10 different cars and bought something else.

I had a car up recently for sale in Donegal, and I got calls from people in Limerick and Dublin who expected me to drive to them as they were interested! Some people are just thick.
Ireland is a small country. If I see a car I genuinely like, and its in Cork, I will make plans to go look at it. I wouldn't ever think about asking the seller to drive 6hrs to me and 6hrs home if I say "naw, don't like it".
