Is there any company that has a chain of gyms throughout the country - i.e where you might expect much the same in each?

Coral leisure would be the closest that I know. Gyms in Wicklow, Wexford, Kerry etc. Not all the same, but all pay as you go

For a City, Cork is shocking bad for strength and conditioning gyms.

For a City, Cork is shocking bad for strength and conditioning gyms.

What a strength and conditioning gym as opposed to a gym?

Lots of options in cork, crossfit cork and crossfit return are both quality options with good coaches, the Mardyke if its not packed with students is good, fitnessworx has everything you would want, Cork Weightifting Club in the marina is a serious setup, KJstrength and performance in carrigaline is a nice setup.

Some new place in Togher called DT fitness looks good.

The options are out there, you just have to look. Considering Cork isn't exactly the biggest City around I think its fairly good for gyms, you just need to search a bit.
