    HI there
Sincere apologies for posting this twice but I think I'm more likely to get a response here than in the other sub-forum- I'll see if I can delete it there.

I've scrounged an old Scientific Atlantic epc2203 from a friend so I can Bridge to my own router since the Horizon box won't do it..

I've done a reset and can hit 192.168.100.1 ok but I need the login and password for the good stuff.

I've tried all the various things suggested in various pages I've found in searches

    Does anybody know

    (a) the default login/password
    or
    (b) how to get round it

    Thanks a lot
    Kinch

Edit: Alternatively can anyone recommend a simple cable modem I can but that will fully bridge the UPC signal to my Asus A66u ? Much appreciated

Edit 2: Or is there anything I can do with the Horizon box?

Edit 3: After some more reading I see now that scrounging/buying sombody else's won't work - will have to get on to UPC I suppose

    The didn't work list:

You will need to have UPC deactivate the modem in the Horizon box if you wish to use another modem instead but this will also have to be supplied by UPC. They will only grant access to their netowrk for modems that they have supplied

As pizzahead said, you cannot use your own cable equipment with UPC - it must be commisioned by them, and I don't they are going to do that for you.
    2 other things
    a) the epc2203 is a docsis 2 modem so only supports max speeds up to 30/50M
    b) if I remember correctly, there was nothing you could change even if you could login to it - origionaly you could login but after one of the firmware upgrades i think it was locked out

You could look to get your horizion box 'deconsolidated' where upc provide you with a seperate modem/router (probably the tc7200) and they switch off the modem functionality in your horizon. Search the threads here for more info.

They won't pair up a 2203 with horizon box, but as suggested above you could get a Thomson - I have this setup.

Thanks a lot guys -appreciate you taking the time to sort me out.

I rang UPC today and pleaded ignorance and loss of functionality. After a bit of toing and the froing the magic word is (Edit1: as noted above) "deconsolidation" - which means in this case they're turning off the router functionality of the Horizon box and sending me a router in the morning :D

Controversial: I have to say UPC have never been less than helpful when I've asked for things

    Edit2: Yikes - I can bridge the tc7200 yes?)

Edit 3 (Sat): I received an EPC3925 today, disabled wireless etc and bridged it. All ports now working. Happy Camper - thanks again :D
