Will having a tennent in my house effect my medical card ?

    As it says that your allowed earn up to €10,000 by renting a room out to a tennent to help woth the mortgage without it effecting tax credits.. Dose anyone know if it will effect my medical card as it is means tested , also my wifes maternity leave ?

    Maternity leave is not means tested.

    As to the tenant, it might depend on if they are related to you, for example an adult child would be just considered part of the house hold, but an unrelatd person might not.

    I would think it more than likely will. It's an income and all income is assessed for medical cards.
