Van seemingly dumped near my apartment. How to get it removed?

    Hi folks,

I live in the city center with very scarce parking.

There are actually two spots down an alleyway between my apartment block and a pay for parking area. Cars parked here never get ticketed, so it's handy for me to park in there from time to time.

Now for the last few weeks, almost a month I'd say, an old banger of a transit that seems to have been written off has been sitting there. I saw the owner empty the van out one day and put all the stuff into another van. But it hasn't budged since then.

Basically, I want that fecking parking spot if all it's being used for is a dumping site! The windows are open to the elements with junk on the seats.

Who do I report this to? Can I get somebody to tow it away?

At the moment I sometimes park in my friends drive which is about 15 mins walk away, or use the basement car park when a space is freed up (I have to arrange this with the people who own the space). It would be handy to have this space freed up.

    Thanks

Is there tax/insurance discs on it?
Could report it to the council/warden for either illegal parking or that its dumped.

Give your local Garda station a call and see if it has been reported as stolen. If it has been then they will take care of moving it.

Otherwise I agree with Cabaal; contact your local litter warden and report it as being abandoned.

The landlord just informed me that this is a sort of no man's land. Nobody knows who owns this few meters of tarmac. He apparently had this sort of problem before as depending how the car is parked, it may block entrance to the basement carpark of the apartment block. He couldn't get it removed.

Just called the council too, they asked me to check if the tax is expired and send them on the info.

Yup, I would say if the plates fell off the van would be removed very quickly.

Especially with no tax disk there due to it probably being blown away, what with the open windows and all.
