Improving Wireless Signal on 3rd Floor

Apologies if this is in the wrong forum, first time posting here!

    Hi guys,
I will be moving into a room soon on the third floor of the house where the internet signal is dodgy at best. There is the 100MB UPC in the house but the signal is fairly weak at the top of the house and I like a bit of online gaming!

Is there anything that can be bought which can help improve the signal and the connectivity. I read somewhere online about things that can be bought and plugged into wall sockets. If anyone has advice and could include some links or point me in the right direction I would be very grateful. (Including setup, I'm not the best at this stuff!)

    Thanks a million,
    Barry.

Thank you, just had a read through there. Looks like the right job alright! Are these good then?

TP-Link have a good reputation in general. I personally haven't used these though. Check prices on Amazon UK, usually pretty reasonable.

Theyre standardised so there isnt a huge variation between brands. TP, DLink and Devolo are all good. 200Mbps is fine, no real benefit from 500Mbps ones. Most of the time they max out below 100Mb real world throughput.

Plug directly into wall sockets where possible, not multi socket bars or extenders.

Only concern is if you have two "fuseboxes" (RCDs) in the house they wont work across them, but thats usually only for granny flats and the like.

Should okay for the Homeplugs then. Are ye with Eircom, and if so, does someone in the house have the bill under their name? Eircom is doing a deal for cheap homeplugs for €30 at the moment, that are look pretty damn good.

Unfortunately not, one for 30 quid would have been good. I need one which has the wi-fi extender and these seem a fair bit more expensive.

I was thinking about this one as it is cheap enough. It is Manufacturer Refurbished, but they have good feedback. Any thoughts? Thanks :)
