Changing swing weight of irons

Looking to increase the swing weight of my irons but just wondering if anyone could give me a ballpark figure for cost?

What would be the best method, taking the heads off and using tip weights or taking grips off and using lead powder etc?

Best way is to add lead tape to the back, weight in the shaft changes the center of gravity of the club leading to potential changes in ball flight.

Probably around €5 or less per club using this method.

I wouldn't consider tape a permenant fix and would do it myself if I was to do this - some respected guys on golfwrx seem to suggest it isn't a problem and Taylormade use shaft inserts on my tpmc irons so I'm sure it won't make a huge difference to cog

I'm planning on using tape to find the weight that feels best then get club fitter to natch my set to this

Some of the greatest golfers of all time have use lead tape so I don't know what you are worrying about. There is also some serious ****e talk on wrx:D

Also what feels best and what is best can often be miles apart

It looks sh1t and would come off eventually after being soaked by our glorious Irish weather :pac:

Edit - I agree with you in part on WRX but I seriously rate Tom Wishon's thoughts on club fitting/making etc

I have lead tape on a number of irons for four years and despite plenty of golf no issue with them. May not look great but definitely the cheapest way and easiest way to experiment with different swing weights. If you go for weight inserts you may have to re shaft especially on TM irons. TM do a weights set for their TP irons.

Thanks for the reply - my aim would be to have them reshafted with tip weights once I've settled on a SW. Interestingly enough I asked the lads in Royal Dublin and they said they wouldn't do that type of work which I would have thought would be standard enough
