Charging devices on transatlantic flights ?

Does anyone know if it's possible to charge laptops/ipads/iphones etc on transatlantic flights (most probably Are Lingus, but possibly others)?

Have the possibility of a couple of flights to the US in the next year & it would be great to get some work done/be able to surf to pass the time

I don't think you can with US Airways unless you're in the envoy cabin. Check out http://www.seatguru.com - there's a list of airlines and their aircrafts with seat maps, also outlining whether there's on demand TV/AC power.

United Airlines you definitely can, Delta Air Lines it depends on the plane they happen to use. IIRC I flew DUB-JFK with EI and they didn't have AC.

All EI A330s (flights to the US from Dublin) have power in economy and have had for some time. Otherwise it depends both on the airline and what craft is on that route on a given day.

You could invest in a portable battery like this one. I'm heading off around Europe for a month and got myself a smaller one for my phone and tablet. Finding it great so far.

American Airlines had power sockets on a number of seats in Economy when I flew to Florida:

Really depends on the aircraft. Check your ticket and then look at seat guru for the aircraft type. I didn't think Aer Lingus had them in economy. American Airlines have little lightning bolt icons on the overhead lockers to show which seats have a power outlet. It wasn't every row though. Seemed to be every few rows in economy. Most business class cabins will have power at every seat.

Delta have them in all levels now I think, at the very least USB ports for charging.

As Ruu says, Delta have USB power either under your seat or directly into the IFE system as below.

EI have a similar set-up on their 757's to Toronto, though it's a bit of a lottery as to whether the under seat AC plugs are powered up on their A330's.
