    Hi,

I recently moved into a house share in Dublin. There's a TV point in my room which fits into the 'RF in' port on the above box.

I realise now this box isn't 'saorview approved' so I may have made a balls up! I'm trying desperately to even get rte,bbc channels into my room.

Anyone any idea what I'm doing wrong as I cant find any channels? I have the box beside the tv with the 'RF in' port containing the lead from my wall. I have HDMI cable and scart leads linking up the box to the telly. When I do a search for channels though, none are coming up?

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

    Hi.
If you press 'Menu' on the remote control.
Select 'Setup', 'Installation' & 'Terrestrial Auto Scan' you should get the RTE / TV3 /TG4 channels.
If you don't, the RF point in the wall is not connected to an aerial.
You'll need a feed from a satellite dish to the LNB in crew-on connector on the box in order to get the BBC's etc.

Thanks for the reply, the RF point mustnt be connected to an aerial then cos cant even get rte channels :(

    That's a bummer.
If you can borrow a pair of Rabbit's ears should get you enough of a signal to make sure it isn't the box.

Actually sorry, I disconnected the box completely and hooked my RF wall connection directly into tv. I got like 17 channels? Including mtv, discovery, sky news etc (its an NTL point). I hooked it back up to the box and did a terestrial search but still nada on the box???

Sorry. I'm afraid I don't know anything about NTL, but sounds like it's an analog distribution system they're using & your 4ife box will only pick up digital.

The TV point appears to be connected to the UPC cable network which still carries the legacy analogue channels - http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=88414136#post88414136

You won't get the Saorview digital channels or UK satellite channels via that TV point, a separate feed from an internal or external aerial will be required. For the UK FTA channels a connection to a satellite dish will be required.

that box comes with a pre-loaded channel list!! Have you lost all the satellite channels?

You can do a sat scan of 28east but god knows what it will do to any already stored or you can add channels manually.

look here on how to do the DTT ones and then copy that for the satellite ones.

and watch this one as well.

but when you look closely at the screen it appears the cursor is aligned to sat 23.5e!!

The sat for 28east is numbered 008!! So be careful
