Hi folks, I know they can't fail me for it, but I scractched up the side of my car pretty badly there, and am wondering if I should take it for a spray first.
    It doesnt look great.

Scrapped the pillar pulling in, I'm on the road 3 years and thi is the first time, to look at the car now you'd think I need more lessons before sitting the test.

Anyone passed with a banged up car?

Don't bother, it wont make any difference to how you drive the car, and the examiner isn't going to tag on extra faults for some scrapes.

How old is the car? And what's the damage like? Spraying costs a lot more than people realise...

If all it is just some scratches, you have nothing to worry about. The tester is testing your driving ability and nothing else. If the car is so seriously banged up (such as massive dents in the metal body work) the tester may refuse to get into it on the day of the test, as he may not think the car is safe to drive. If he does that, you can't sit the test all, as it is your responsibility to provide a road worthy car for the test. But if its just cosmetic scratches & the actual frame of the car is in good shape, you'll be fine.
