Get a bus in and out from Eyre Sq. There is usually around 18,000 people there on a Monday compared to three time that amount on Ladies Day.

You could. They don't check your bags like they do at a concert.

Save a few more by catching the regular bus instead of the races one - just got to watch what time you go out, or have an extra 15 minute walk. Details here: http://news.galwaytransport.info/2014/07/buses-and-trains-galway-races-2014-at-ballybrit.html
