    Hi guys

Spotted 'rump fillet' in the butcher today, cheaper than normal but it looked quite like traditional fillet steak, is there much of a difference?

A fillet is a fillet. It does not come from the rump. A bit of crappy & misleading marketing there.

Give me a striploin or tone any day over a fillet

It's also called false fillet, comes from the hind quarters (rear legs). It's not fillet steak but it looks lik eit, ie: sort of like a long tube of meat., there's no comparison regards tenderness.

False fillet from venison is fantastic, for beef I wouldn't bother personally.
