    Matt Brown vs. Robbie Lawler
Anthony Johnson vs. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira
    Dennis Bermudez vs. Clay Guida
    Bobby Green vs. Josh Thomson

    PRELIMINARY CARD
    FOX, 6 p.m. ET bt sports 1 11.0 -1.0
    Daron Cruickshank vs. Jorge Masvidal
    Patrick Cummins vs. Kyle Kingsbury
    Tim Means vs. Hernani Perpetuo
Mike De La Torre vs. Brian Ortega

    PRELIMINARY CARD
UFC Fight Pass, 4:15 p.m. ET
Akbarh Arreola vs. Tiago dos Santos e Silva
    Noad Lahat vs. Steven Siler
    Gilbert Burns vs. Andreas Stahl
Juliana Carneiro Lima vs. Joanna Jedrzejczyk

No doubt the every mma fan on the planet will be looking
forward to lawlor brown and few will like to see either lose
Really feel this is a huge ask for brown, the progress he
has made has been incredible but this is where
his run stops, honestly think he can't beat lawlor myself.
if someone told me a few years back brown would possibly
get within one fight of possibly getting a shot I'd have
    laughed at them

rumble/lil nog should be explosive and tough an all as nog is
I think he'll do very well to go 3 with Aj

always like to see josh thomson in action, rarely in a bad fight
big name for bobby green though but a big ask to beat
    someone as good as josh

can't call bermudez guida but have a few euro on guida given
    he's the underdog here

cruickshank a big underdog at 2/1 to beat masvidal, very surprised
at that, think this is a pretty even match up with cruick looking
very good taking care of koch and masvidal doing enough to
beat healy on pts, not sure what to make of masvidal

gilbert burns maybe another name to note making his ufc debut.
The last time I recall looking at a fighter with so many wins inside the
first round, his name was shane carwin
unusual to see a lightweight finishing all his fights within a round

just hoping this turns out to be as good as the two most
    recent cards

Really looking forward to Brown / Lawlor.... My heart says brown, but my head says Lawlor. I know it will be an absolute war though! AJ will go through Nog for a shortcut, but i hope it takes it on points for my bet :pac:

Gilbert Burns was a coach for Vitor on TUF and regularly was in his corner, really looking forward to seeing him fight!

    Brown misses weight  172.5

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,450 ✭✭✭Wrongway1985

Watched weigh-ins, Brown weighed in at 172.5 has an hour to drop a pound and a half or he'll be giving Robbie 20% of his purse. Also for some reason when Kyle Kingsbury was weighing in he had "Legalize Gay" on the back of his jocks.

Seen on twitter hes not allowed re-weigh in by commission whats that all about?

The doggy has decided. Matt Brown to win.

Dunno, Carneiro involved in the womens straw weight fight was also denied another weigh in attempt apparently an error by the commission so those fighters won't be fined and remain able to pick up bonus awards should they be eligible.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,071 ✭✭✭user2011

He must of had a hard time even getting down to 172.5 for the commission to not let him get 1.5. And not being fined by the UFC/Commission
Typically, Brown would have been given two hours to see if he could make weight, but UFC president Dana White told reporter Ariel Helwani on the UFC on FOX Weigh-in Show on FOX Sports 1 that the California commission would not allow Brown to cut any additional weight.

White also said that the weight cutting issue would not affect whether or not the fight would be for the No. 1 contender's spot for Brown. He will not be fined by the commission or the UFC, and he will still be eligible for bonuses and the No. 1 contendership.

Edit: Is the fine the 20% of his fight purse to Lawlor or is the fine on top of it?

My above post may be a bit misleading.20% would be the fine 10% to commission/10% to Robbie as normal procedure, but due to commission error Brown won't be penalized.

The Nogueiras should retire at this stage

    around now I'd say :pac:

I enjoyed Brown's last fight. Lawler is a tougher opponent for sure so can see it being a pretty cagey (no pun intended) affair. Think Lawler will do enough to get the KO/TKO victory though.

Should be a great fight. Has all the makings for sure.

    Johnson will destroy Nog methinks.

Can see Guida grinding out a decision victory.

Should be a decent night of fights anyway.

I think Masvidal - Cruikshank could be FOTN.
I like both of their striking games but expect Masvidal to win.
Hopefully he gets a ranked opponent next, Jim Miller or someone.
I feel he has a very high ceiling if he puts his mind to it.

Should be some good fights. I think Lawler will be to much for Brown, he's right when he says that he's stronger were Brown is strongest.

Diet Nog vs Rumble is also interesting. Rumble has looked good and Nog has been out a while so you would have to be concerned about how health and sharp he is, he has been around a long at this stage.

I think he can pull out a late Sub if he can survive an early on slaught. Johnson has been choked out a few times in his career. However at LHW he has and should have a lot more energy, also the fact that lil Nog doesn't push a high pace should benefit him.

Watching Burns V Stahl at the moment. Good fight.

quite the contrast from last week
you can hear most of what the coaches are shouting and
    plenty of empty seats

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,081 ✭✭✭✭chopperbyrne

Been a really good undercard so far.

Really hope Brown wins later. Been one of my favourite fighter since he was on TUF, but especially when he was shouting at Yves Lavigne to stop the fight against Pete Sell because he didn't want to seriously hurt him.

And that's why you can guarantee they'll be back next year.

Our undercard had more pop than some main events.

That was unreal re:the Sell fight he destroyed him had him finished Matt had to stick to the task of getting the win and shocked out at Yves "The Undertaker" Lavigne for not calling the finishes numerous occasions before eventually waving it off.

Impressed by Trator here. He needs to work on not getting hit so much, but his conditioning, workrate and strikerate are unreal.

I've enjoyed all of the fights thus far. Some really excellent jiu-jitsu on display.

I'd say it's out the door for Kingsbury here if he loses which I suspect he will

Did he not retire and this is his 1st fight back. They will probably give him a second fight even if he loses

I got cummings winning by grinding out kingsbu or maybe a finich from gnp

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,342 ✭✭✭✭That_Guy

I watched Cummings last fight. Despite the win, he looked distinctly average. I really don't get the hype about him.

Not sure he's from San Jose (where this event is) so maybe the UFC's real reason for having him on the card?

Pretty dominant thus far from Cummins. Impressive performance. Stifling Kingsbury.

How far he can go in the division remains to be seen but certainly proving me wrong anyway.

Watching on Fight Pass. The promo for Bisping/Le is in my face ad nauseum.

Is it just me or was Joe Rogan being especially annoying in the Cummins fight?
Always repeating the same 'wrestlers mental toughness' speech.

Who knows where he'll go every takedown successful would cause problems for some guys for sure, he won't be fighting Comier again anytime soon though. 2 judges scored 30-25 & 30-24 on their score cards the other played it safe with 30-27 me thinks.

Although it was total domination the 30-24 and 30-25 were a bit much

Very enjoyable fight. Cruickshank just couldn't capitalise on a very decent first round. Showed great resistance to escape a very tight looking d'arce choke in the second.

    McGregor #10
    Guida # 7
    Bermudez #12

Could be some very interesting fights in the featherweight division over the next few months.

Yep it was a case of whoever lost only had themself to blame.

Odd fight overall. Not entirely sure if I enjoyed it tbh. Green's antics wanted me to see him get knocked out.

Guida would lay on conor for 3 rounds resulting in the short lived interest of the casuals in mma in ireland. I can just imagine everyone saying....**** this boring wrestling bollox''

Unlikely guys will sit on the fence though all those guys in or around are hardly gonna want to take long lay-offs. Almost all are ready to fight think all but Mendes have fought this year the movement in the division with him not getting his title shot must be killing him.

Guida in trouble already. Some serious fighters in the division.

I think Dana was saying that the injury to Aldo would see him sidelined for 6 weeks so that fight with him and Mendes will probably take place later in the year if the recovery all goes well.

Lovely finish from Bermudez. All over Guida before then. 10-0 for fighters in the blue corner now. :D

That has to push Bermudez into the top 10 ???
