Changing visa status

    Hi all,

I am not sure where this question should go here on boards but here goes.

Is it possible to have my visa status changed from Stamp 3 to Stamp 2?

I have been living in Ireland for four years now on Stamp 3 (after joining husband who works here). I cannot work with this visa unless I have a work permit and have had no luck with potential employers because no one wants to deal with work permits--even if there are no fees associated with it as in the case of spousal work permits. Having not worked in all these years and really feeling that I need to 'plug in', it occurred to me that students are able to work part time. September I begin an MA and I am considering the visa change if it is permitted.

If anyone has any experience with this particular issue, I would appreciate your thoughts.

    Thanks.

Before taking this step get good advice from an immigration solicitor. If you do change to stamp 2 you have no rights to Naturlisation as time on stamp 2 is excluded.

Depending on your spouses permission you maybe able to change to stamp 4 or maybe stamen 1. But please take advice before you do any change and (I know the irony) not advice on the internet.

    Thank you Pro Hoc Vice.

I have a few things to consider. I will definitely seek advice from a solicitor.
