somewhere in Crete

Myself and the girlfriend are looking to go to Crete for the second week in September. Neither if us have been there before. We're flying into Chania and looking for somewhere nice and reasonable to stay.

For a variety of reasons, we are looking for somewhere on a sandy beach, with a swimming pool, either self catering or B&B, within easy enough reach of a main town.

From looking around, we've seen hotels in Rethymnon and Stalis that look nice.

Dues anybody have any personal recommendations?

Chania itself is lovely and there is a nice beach about 15 mins walk outside the town. We found a nice apartment in the old town on airb&b. you can get the local bus from the airport.

A quick search on Alpharooms finds this place. Kato Stalos is out along the coast, to the west of Chania. Most of the modern accommodation(eg swimming pools, air con) is out this direction.
