Fair play, I've a pain in me hole replacing cheap silicone every 6 months or so, so 12.99 isn't that dear if it lasts

Oh it'll last alright, that silicone is pants compared to Tec 7 (and afaik it's made in Ireland too)

A job I have long fingered myself...

Tec 7 sounds like the business.

Can anyone recommend how to apply this so it will look like a pro did it?
I can be notoriously sloppy when it comes to this type of job.

    Youtube video maybe?

Tec 7 is a good product but actually quite difficult to apply well, you really need to use it's own cleaner to lubricate. Tec 7 will also yellow In a few years. Something like this will work equally as well

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/MICROBAN-SILICONE-WHITE-YEARS-GUARENTEE/dp/B00GQVCDM0

And is much easier to apply.

Totally agree with above. Good adhesive properties but very difficult to shape into a neat finish (which if its for where the tiles meet the bath/shower tray, then this is your intention).

Have a look at this: http://www.hls.ie/products-page/polymer-glue/dow-corning-785-sanitary-silicone/ - its far easier to work with.

Decent stuff. I have it down years. No dis-colouration. also handy to have a bottle Anti-mould spray - Homestore & more. €7.50 a bottle. Great stuff.

Bath, wall and tyles have to be 100% cleaned.
No point in going over the bad silicon.

Tec7 is the stuff you need and is so easy to apply all you do is run a strip of masking tape along the bath is a nice straight line then do the same along the tiles,
Run the Tec7 in a nice bead all the way along then wipe with a wet finger, peel off the masking tap wile wet and you have a lovely job done.
One thing to point out although Tec7 will 100% seal your bath/shower it stains badly with soap, gels etc so wont stay white for long.

Is there not a clear/translucent version? Would this be less likely to show up the staining?

I disagree once you take your time it is very easy to work with and can have a very smooth finish

This or any other silicone will work quite good on a new shower but and old one will always have some damp in the joints no matter how much you try to dry it out, you could never compare this to Tec7 for sticking or sealing as I said only prob is it discolours so go with the transparent, and go to the trade counter in any Brooks its 7 euro a tube
